It had to end. And after fifteen years, it will. Back in May, The CW network made the big announcement that the TV show Supernatural would be ending with its upcoming 15th season. This came as sad news for fans of the show, however it isn’t a surprise that the show is ending.
This cult TV show has told pretty much every kind of supernatural story out there. In fact, over the course of fourteen seasons, the Winchester brothers have come into contact with almost every type of supernatural creature there is.
Created by Eric Kripke, The TV Show Supernatural centers on two brothers (Sam and Dean Winchester) that follow in their father’s footsteps as supernatural hunters. The brothers constantly fight evil beings of many kinds, including monsters, demons and gods that roam the earth. They gain some unusual allies along the way….like the Demon Crowley (aka King of Hell) or the Angel Castiel, and even the Grim Reaper death; however the show’s theme has always centered on the brothers…
Portrayed by actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, the show was originally designed to end at season 2. However due to positive reviews and a growing fan base, Kripke envisioned ending the TV series after five seasons. And when the show was renewed for a season 6, Kripke had stepped down and took on an advisory role.
Presently, the show holds the title for the longest running sci-fi/genre series in the history of American Television. This is because the TV show Supernatural debuted way back in 2005, long before The CW network existed and during the time the WB was a popular channel.
“Supernatural’s” final season is set to premiere on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c.
